As part of our internship with the Martha’s Vineyard Commission, my college Brittany Wells and I are producing a list of guidelines for defining characteristics for each community character area studied on the island.  The guidelines are the result of synthesizing inventory and analysis material from the field and each list of guidelines cross-reference other related materials, and includes a visual piece.  The visual piece for the School Street area in Edgartown is pictured above.  The full documents produced in this project are intended to be used as a tool for preserving the character of island communities, and will be kept on file at the Martha’s Vineyard Commission and town libraries once completed.

Until next time,

Tim
